Summer Sailing Camp 2007

Thanks to grants from the Erie Community Foundation and Highmark, BCMS was able to fund a summer sailing camp for children from the Erie Housing Authority.  Kids sailed daily on a variety of boats ranging from our 34’ catamaran, Taco the Town, to our 27’ Tartan, Ballerina. Beautiful weather allowed for lots of summer fun including swimming.  Children had a chance to learn about the ecosystem of Presque Isle by participating in Environmental Rediscoveries.

Sea Scout Ship 2

Another new program for BCMS for 2007 is the formation of a Sea Scout Troop.  This charter, granted by the Boy Scouts of America, allows an even greater variety of students to enjoy the benefits of sailing.  The experience is designed to enhance character development, citizenship training and to promote mental and physical fitness.
