BCMS to Take Part in Tall Ships Erie
BCMS is excited to be a part of Tall Ships Erie 2010, the first tall ships festival in Erie in more than a decade! The event, which will include the U.S. Brig Niagara as well as six other tall ships, is set to take place Thursday, September 9th through Sunday, September 12th, in partnership with the Flagship Niagara League and the Erie County Historical Society's Heritage Festival.
With attendance expected to be between thirty and fifty thousand, the bayfront will be alive with activity between Dobbins Landing and the BCMS campus. BCMS is excited to be a part of this unique event!
Come and see the fine work of the BCMS students. Boats #83, #84, #85 and #86 will be on display along with the current San Fransisco Pelican project. The kids have worked hard in the boat shop all winter long and are proud of their accomplishments.
BCMS will also be sponsoring a cardboard boat regatta on Saturday, September 12th. Build your own cardboard boat and come join the fun! Details and registration forms will be posted soon, so get your team together now.
Some of the tall ships will be parked in BCMS' backyard, the East Canal Basin. Entertainment will include a parade of sail, ship tours and down rigging demonstrations, sail charters with BCMS, live music, childrens area and activities, craft and gift vendors, food vendors, and free entrance to the Erie Maritime Museum. Saturday evening, visitors can make their way down the bayfront to Liberty Park for their "Last Blast of Summer", ECHS' 6th Annual Heritage Festival. The event includes a fireworks display, live music, and free concert by the Erie Philharmonic.
