They DO Float!
All of the hard work paid off Friday at the Boys and Girls Club pool as Bayfront AEP students launched their canoes. On the Big Day, students helped BCMS volunteers Gene and Paul load the truck.

Paddling the canoes is a big step for the students and a welcome change from cutting, fitting, sanding, painting and varnishing. For some of the kids it is a first ever boat ride made very special because these are boats that they made.

Their hard work and success was recognized by the local media and shown on the evening news.

Channel 12 News filmed the launching and interviewed students about their significant achievements.
The project based maritime activities, beginning with reading plans and layout, to launching and paddling, all emphasize teamwork, cooperation, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
