Gannon University Students and Faculty Volunteer at BCMS
Ten Gannon University students spent their Saturday morning volunteering at the Bayfront Center for Maritime Studies as part of the Day of Caring Program. These students worked with BCMS staff Alex Nagle who directed the various projects, and BCMS AmeriCorps Vista volunteer Lou Shernisky, who set up the volunteer activities with Gannon. One of the major efforts was to clean trash and debris that collects on the riprap at the west edge of the BCMS campus during the winter.

A large amount of debris was pulled from the riprap, deposited there by the west wind and the waves. Just standing on these rocks is hard work.
The students were joined by Gannon's Outdoor Leadership Team Director, Andrew Harlan, and formed several work groups inside and out.

The volunteers pick up trash near the small boat ramp designed and built in a collaborative project with Gannon University mechanical engineering students and professors.

The crew at BCMS would like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers for their hard work today!
