BCMS Presents at the Teaching With Small Boats Conference at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation
Over one hundred representatives from fifty four organizations from across the United States and Canada that use building, sailing, rowing and paddling small boats to teach America's youth worked together for three days at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation. The desired outcomes of the conference were:
• Stronger connections between programs
• Sharing of ideas leading to more effective programs
• Gather best practices for future reference
• Online materials for future reference by existing and new programs
• Identify and gather metrics on program effectiveness
• Improved collaboration and cooperation
• Pilot project to demonstrate collaboration
• Creation of a national organization

Dinner Saturday night was at the Old Dominion Yacht Club and included an enchanting impromptu presentation by Joe Filipowski, of S.A.I.L. Straight Ahead In Life, from Suffolk, VA.
