Press Release

BCMS welcomed participants from Vision and Blindness Resources to enjoy our Boatshop Experience.  Fourteen visually impaired students built a Six Hour Canoe and then had a chance to try it out at a local pool.  For many students it was their first time in a boat and the experience was enhanced by the fact that they were paddling in one they built themselves.  There was a high level of engagement from these participants which fostered an increase in their self esteem and confidence.  The students enjoyed the boat building so much they returned this summer to take sailing lessons!
